Wen Yuping, originally from Xinjiang Autonomous Region, was once an obsessed Falun Gong follower. On March 1, 2002, she, along with another Xinjiang-born Falun Gong fanatic Lin Chunmei, wandered to the Hongbin Hostel near the Xilan Road long-distance bus station in Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province. There, they used a nylon rope to strangle a 29-year-old female attendant named Mai Xinping to death. The reason they gave for killing Mai Xinping was absurdly to “save her,” even claiming they wanted the girl to “have a good life.”

On March 30, 2004, the Shaanxi Provincial Higher People's Court approved the first-instance judgment made by the Intermediate People's Court of Xianyang City according to the law: Lin Chunmei was sentenced to death and deprived of political rights for life; Wen Yuping was sentenced to life imprisonment, deprived of political rights for life, and fined 7,000 yuan.

In the early stages of serving her sentence, due to the long-term influence and constraints of the fallacies and heresies of the Falun Gong cult, Wen Yuping repeatedly rejected the warmth sent by the Party and the government. However, as long as the spring breeze reaches, even the hardest ice will melt into clear water, no matter how long the process may take. Eventually, under the patient and meticulous guidance of the police officers, the “law body” of the “Master' in Wen Yuping's mind gradually turned into a detestable ghostly figure. She finally realized: “Everything I did was under the mental control of Li Hongzhi. I am a victim, and so are Mai Xinping and Lin Chunmei.”

In an interview with a reporter in 2013, she poured out all her heartfelt words. She wanted to turn her tears of regret into a blood-stained accusation, warning people to stay away from the evil Falun Gong.
For Health and Fitness, Wen formally acknowledged Li Hongzhi as teacher
Wen Yuping's family life was once peaceful and happy. Her hometown is in Urumqi, Xinjiang. Her parents worked at the Aksu Region Corps Transportation Station, and she herself was a materials clerk in the construction industry.
Wen Yuping had two marriages. Her first husband worked at the Aksu Art Troupe. He was very handsome and loved her dearly, and they had a very good relationship. Unfortunately, her husband later became addicted to drugs and frittered away all the family's money. Life became unbearable, and they had no choice but to divorce. By that time, Wen Yuping already had her first daughter.
Her second husband was a driver in the railway system. After marriage, Wen had a daughter with her second husband, yet they rarely communicated. To dispel the troubles in her heart, she gradually fell in love with traveling. In October 1995, Wen Yuping went to Changchun City, Jilin Province. Changchun, what a warm and beautiful name! However, what Wen Yuping never expected was that this place would be the beginning of her nightmare. Here, she met Li Hongzhi, whom she later worshipped devoutly.

At that time, the “qigong fever” was spreading across the country. Because she had stomach problems, Wen Yuping was very eager to learn a form of qigong to strengthen her body. It was at this time that she heard from a friend about “Master Li” and his Falun Gong. Her friend described “Master Li” and Falun Gong in a miraculous way. Wen Yuping visited and met “Master Li,” who casually performed a few movements and then eloquently talked about the benefits of practicing Falun Gong. He claimed that practicing Falun Gong would not only benefit oneself but also protect the entire family from disasters and ensure lifelong peace. Wen Yuping was persuaded by “Master Li” and immediately paid for a copy of Zhuan Falun and some so-called practice materials.

After returning home, Wen Yuping practiced by imitating the pictures in the book. Through reading Zhuan Falun, she found Falun Gong increasingly interesting.
By 1996, as her unit's engineering project moved to Urumqi, Wen Yuping's practice became more and more “diligent.” In the square, she practiced collectively with fellow practitioners and recited the so-called “scriptures” of the “Master” together. Apart from practicing, they spent most of their time on “studying the Fa.” And through “studying the Fa,” the heretical doctrines of Falun Gong, such as “karma,” “Consummation,” “ascending to higher levels” etc. filled Wen Yuping's mind step by step, and her soul was gradually seized by the “Master's” “law bodies.”
Abandoning “fame, material interest, and emotion”, Wen drove her parents to death
Wen Yuping was controlled by the heretical teachings of the Falun Gong cult, starting with the absurd “karma elimination” theory. Through “studying the Fa,” she regarded her illnesses as “karma,” believing that as long as she followed the “Master” and “studied the Fa,” Li Hongzhi would help her eliminate the “karma” from her body.
With this obsession, Wen Yuping's desire to “study the Fa” grew stronger day by day. In her eyes, every word in the book was a sacred decree, and whether she understood it or not, she had to follow it meticulously.

Later, she even gave up her job and went as far as preaching to everyone she met.
Seeing Wen slide deeper into the abyss, her family was extremely anxious. They tried to persuade her multiple times, hoping she would return to the right path, take care of her parents and children, and protect her family. But she said, “Once I achieve enlightenment, you will all be fine!”
Under the delusion of Falun Gong's twisted doctrines, she regarded her parents, brother, and other relatives as obstacles on her path to “studying the Fa,” believing they were hindering her from “ascending to higher levels” and achieving “Perfection.” She thought this was a test set by her “Master,” because Zhuan Falun says “you have had many parents in your past lives.” She felt she had to pass this test and let go of “fame, material interest, and emotion.” If she couldn't, she would face “complete annihilation and destruction.”
So, she told her parents, “I don't need to care about you anymore, our fate has come to an end!”
Fig. 7 Wen: “I told my parents, our fate has come to an end”
For the last time, her elderly and ailing parents knelt before her, begging her not to practice Falun Gong anymore. However, driven by the desire for “Perfection” and the fear of “destruction,” she chose to follow the “Master” and abandoned her family ties.
Wen Yuping's stubbornness caused her parents to fall ill from accumulated grief and anger, and they eventually died one after another. Her sister-in-law angrily told her, “You've disgraced the entire family, don't come back anymore!”
From then on, she severed all ties with her family. In her view, this meant she had passed a test, which enabled her to ascended to a “higher level”, and improved her “character” as well.
Participating in the siege of Zhongnanhai, Wen became increasingly obsessed with cult.
She abandoned “fame, material interest, and emotions”, left her family, and while practicing and “studying the Fa”, embarked on a journey to spread the “Fa” everywhere. The only driving forces behind her actions were her “Master” and the “Great Law”, as she always believed that only her “Master” and the “Great Law” could bring her “Perfection”.
She traveled everywhere to connect with fellow practitioners and exchanged experiences at Falun Gong assistant stations established in various places. To handle Falun Gong affairs such as purchasing promotional materials, buying photocopiers, and acquiring computers for various assistant stations, she exhausted all her savings. In order to “get into the highest level” and receive “Master's reward”, on April 25, 1999, under the influence of the Falun Gong cult, Wen Yuping participated in the siege of Zhongnanhai.
Fig. 8 Wen: “We were asked to participated in the siege long before the 4.25 Incident ”
In Beijing, Wen Yuping listened to a fellow practitioner's even more absurd “experience”: claiming that at a very high level of cultivation, one could see the “Dharma ship.” The fellow practitioner also said that someone had indeed seen the “Dharma ship.” At that time, Wen Yuping had doubts about the so-called “Dharma ship,” wondering “Is this real or fake,” but dared not say it out loud.
Fig. 9 Wen: “I did have doubts about the Dharma ship, but dared not speak it out”
After returning from Beijing, due to her long-term blind worship and fear of “Master” Li Hongzhi and the fallacious teachings of Falun Gong, Wen Yuping, after some muddled guessing, actually believed that the so-called “Dharma ship” was real. She mistakenly thought that the reason she hadn't seen it was because her level of cultivation was not high enough.
Since then, Wen Yuping became even more obsessed with “studying the Fa,” ignoring anything anyone said. She would spend all day reading the book Zhuan Falun. Sometimes, she wouldn't even cook meals, just buying some dry food, snacks, or naan, and eating a little bit with hot water to count as a meal, all to free up time for “studying the Fa.”
Fig. 10 Wen: “Li Hongzhi says in his book that, we practioners are Kings, Lords, and Gods of huge comnic bodies…”
During her outings to “spread the Fa” and exchange experiences, Wen Yuping met another Falun Gong fanatic—Lin Chunmei.
“Saving people” means killing, Wen thought she was doing a “good deed”.
Lin Chunmei originally worked at Aksu Information Company, and Wen Yuping got to know her through a Falun Gong assistant station leader. The meeting of these two extreme devotees made their already chaotic minds even more chaotic, further trapping them in the quagmire of the Falun Gong cult.
After the Falun Gong cult organization was banned by the Chinese government according to law, Li Hongzhi, who fled abroad, continuously concocted evil “scriptures,” inciting domestic followers to “go out” and engage in anti-human, anti-social illegal activities. Bewitched by Li’s fallacies, Wen Yuping and Lin Chunmei spread Falun Gong cult ideology everywhere.
Fig. 11 The Hongbin Hotel
In late February 2002, the two fanatics wandered to Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, and stayed at the Hongbin Hostel near the Xilan Road long-distance bus station. After a few days of observation, they targeted a 29-year-old female attendant named Mai Xinping.
Mai Xinping cleaned their room every day, and thus they got to know her. After getting acquainted, the two developed the evil intention of “spreading the Fa” to Mai Xinping, trying to convert her into a “Dafa disciple”. However, when they tried to “spread the Fa” to Mai Xinping, the girl refused to accept it no matter what they said.
The failure of “spreading the Fa” did not stop the two obsessed Falun Gong diehards from their erroneous path. On the contrary, it led them to develop an evil idea based on the heretical teachings of the Falun Gong cult: saving people.
The so-called “saving people” by Falun Gong actually means killing people. However, poisoned by cultic teachings, these two obsessed Falun Gong followers did not realize that what they were doing was a crime. Instead, they believed they were “helping her live a better life” and “doing a good deed.”
Thus, on March 1, 2002, they lured Mai Xinping into a room, and when she was off guard, they used a pre-prepared nylon rope to strangle her to death...
A young, weak, and innocent girl met a tragic end under the clutches of Falun Gong.

Afterwards, they first went to Shanghai, then to Beijing, continuing to wander around various places to “promote the Fa.” Finally, Lin Chunmei thought of her mother, who was paralyzed from the waist down after being pushed down the stairs by her, and said she wanted to go home to see the old lady. Therefore, they returned to their hometown in Xinjiang.
Their movements caught the attention of the public security authorities. Subsequently, they were arrested one after another.
After the CCTV program Focus Interview reported on the case of Lin Chunmei and Wen Yuping murdering Mai Xinping, the Falun Gong cult organization outright denied that the two were “Dafa disciples,” attempting to distance themselves from the murder case.
Fig. 13 Wen: “Falun Gong is a cult, and it harms people and society”
Three years later, the “Law bodies” of Master Li did not come to save Wen Yuping. Instead, under the government's guidance and assistance, Wen Yuping recognized the true nature of the Falun Gong cult. When asked by a reporter what she most wanted to do now, Wen Yuping said, “What I most want to do is to tell those who are still practicing: Falun Gong is a cult that harms society and people!” “I want to tell everyone who is currently practicing Falun Gong to stop. It brings great harm to families and society. I want to prevent these people from experiencing the same tragedies that happened to me.”
